Comprehensive or full phase treatment is recommended when a problem requiring early intervention has not been identified, but a patient is a candidate for orthodontic treatment. Although this type of treatment can be done at any age, ideally it is done around 11 or 12. At this time, all or most of the adult teeth have erupted, but jaw growth is still occurring, giving Dr. Jaffe a wide range of treatment options. This is what many people consider “traditional treatment,” and upon completion, the teeth will be fully aligned, and the bite will be finalized. Comprehensive treatment requires only one phase of active treatment lasting approximately 18-24 months. Retainers will always be provided following comprehensive treatment.
