While braces are an exciting step towards a new smile, they also come with some life changes and adjustments that can take a bit of getting used to. One of these changes is in diet, as with braces, you will need to avoid hard, sticky, or overly sugary foods. To help out, here are a couple of our favorite braces-friendly recipes to enjoy this fall, with or without braces!

Frozen Banana “Nice” Cream

This simple, 2-ingredient confection is “not ice” cream – it’s “nice” cream! All you’ll need to make it is 2 frozen bananas and a jar of peanut butter. To start, cut your frozen bananas into chunks and put them in a blender. Give them a light blend, then add a tbsp or so of peanut butter to the mix and continue blending. If you’d like, you can also add things like milk or other frozen fruits to taste. Blend well, and serve immediately to anyone with braces craving some delicious ice cream!

Homemade Apple Sauce

Here’s a delicious kid favorite that’s easy to supercharge by making it at home – and the kids can even help out! To start, you’ll need:

• 4 apples, cored and chopped (peeled if desired)
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
• 3/4 cup water

Combine all ingredients into a pot and cook over medium heat, covered, until the apples are soft (~15 to 20 minutes). Once cooked, mash them altogether and serve hot or cold!
