Information From Your Local Barrington, Portsmouth & Bristol Orthodontist

At Jaffe Orthodontics, we understand the stress and pain you may be in during an orthodontic emergency. While they are rare, they can happen, and you deserve to have the problem remedied as soon as possible. Some orthodontic emergencies may include signs of infection, bleeding, swelling, extreme pain, broken orthodontic appliances that are in the way of the jaw closing, or sores caused by the appliances.

What You Should Do

If you experience any of the emergencies listed above, we are waiting to help relieve your pain. Simply follow these steps:

  • Call our office! If it is during normal business hours, you are welcome to come right in, but we would like some notice so we can get ready for you.
  • Follow the automated instructions. If you call during non-business hours, our automated system will walk you through the necessary next steps.
  • Contact Dr. Jaffe. Our automated system will let you know how to get hold of Dr. Jaffe. On the rare occasion he is not available, the automated system will guide you in whom to contact next.
  • Come on in! Your emergency should never be put on hold. We will do everything in our power to accommodate your painful situation and get it taken care of immediately.

Non-Urgent Problems

In some situations, you may have a problem with your orthodontic appliances that is not necessarily an emergency. Some non-urgent problems may include a loose band, broken removable appliance, broken brace that does not cause discomfort, and the improper fit of a removable appliance. If you are experiencing one of these issues, simply contact us during regular office hours when convenient.
